data/jeannie@swimmerstuff.com/2024/8/Blogteamuniform1.png Being a swim store owner...Splashwear Aquatics....I hear this question a lot. It is a common misconception that swimming isn't a team sport, but an individual sport. It is true that you individually compete against other people, both on your team and different teams and you win an individual award.....but your performance also counts toward a team score. And...the better the team performs the better the team is seen in the community. Teams that win the most are the teams others want to be a part of....and the more support they get from the community. Part of being part of a team is wearing a team uniform. Here are some reasons your team should dress alike at swim meets: data/jeannie@swimmerstuff.com/2024/8/blogteamuniform4.jpg Wearing matching team suits creates a sense of unity and solidarity among team members. It fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie. It develops pride in your team. To look around the pool and easily see your teammates dressed like you, not only gives a feeling of pride, but honor, of being part of something bigger. It creates team spirit. Teams that are dressed alike tend to cheer and support each other more freely. Wearing a well-fitted suit, that is appropriate for the meet, makes team members feel confident in their appearance and they can rest assured they are dressed to perform at their best. data/jeannie@swimmerstuff.com/2024/8/blogteamuniform3.png Uniforms play a crucial role in eliminating visual markers of hierarchy. The five year old can feel the same as the high school senior that is cheering them on. Their suit doesn’t make them feel “less than”. They are all dressed the same. It makes a powerful statement. data/jeannie@swimmerstuff.com/2024/8/20240618_183854.jpg Studies have shown that swimmers who are comfortable with their appearance and feel a sense of belonging are more likely to perform at their best. Undoubtedly, swimming is 90% skill…..but it is also mental. Being dressed to win can definitely make an impact on your performance. When swim teams wear their team suit, they are also representing their community and giving their community an opportunity to feel pride in their local swim team. data/jeannie@swimmerstuff.com/2024/8/13900116_10207051256747267_5722181926181026100_n.jpg At Splashwear Aquatics we focus on putting teams in the very best options for your particular needs.
